Throwback Thursday

Posted on December 18, 2014 at 6:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Vintage Festival was a dry vidal blanc (similiar to Winner's Cup) that featured a different painting on the label every year, painted by artist Penny Havard. We would sell and sample Vintage Festival along with other DiGrazia Vineyards wines in our booth at the Limerock Park racing track in Limerock CT in the 90's and early 2000's. We no longer make Vintage Festival or set up booth at Limerock Park, but it was a huge part of our history and promotion in Connecticut. Vintage Car and car racing fans would collect Vintage Festival because of the paintings by Penny, and would let us know when they opened it (two to five years after purchase) how the wine had aged. Pictured left to right is artist Penny Havard, a race car featured in her painting, DiGrazia Vineyards manager Mark Langford, some DiGrazia Vineyards friends and servers (and a baby), and just some of the many Vintage Festival labels.

Wild Blue Too

Posted on December 17, 2014 at 1:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Wild Blue Too is once again available after a short absense.

You know Wild Blue, but do you know Wild Blue Too? WB2 is a fruity blend of apples and blueberries. After the success of Wild Blue original, we wanted to make a lighter and lower alcohol blueberry wine that can be enjoyed in the hot summer heat of wine festivals. We offered WB2 in place of Wild Blue at the Connecticut Wine Festival 2014, and it created such a demand that we now offer it during the winter months alongside Wild Blue. Available online or in store, and at some CT retail locations.

Here is our wine list for the upcoming weekend

Alexa & Kieran's Wild Blue Sauce and Cheesecake Recipe

Posted on May 19, 2014 at 5:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Hey Friends! Here is the recipe for the Wild Blue sauce and cheesecake! The cheesecake recipe is adapted from the joy of cookings traditional cheesecake recipe, and the sauce idea was inspiration from a few other dessert sauces on pinterest.

This is just a fun idea for in case you love the taste of wild blue, but may not have enough to serve glasses of it to your whole party. You can also use wild blue that has oxidized from being left open for too long. Also just if you LOVE WILD BLUE AND CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT!

NOTE! the order of the batter process is extremely important! You want to add everything gradually, or else the cheesecake will taste more like a quiche or egg custard. We know because we made this recipe twice, the first time just throwing everything into the bowl and mixing it by hand. The second time, we used an electric mixer and beat the ingredients slowly and one by one. The difference was huge! first (improperly mixed) cheesecake was gross, the second (properly mixed) cheesecake was DIVINE!

Recipe For DiGrazia Vineyards Wild Blue Sauce

1 Cup DiGrazia Vineyards Wild Blue Wine

1/4th stick butter

1/4th cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Raw Honey (optional)

Combine in saucepan, heat until reduced by half (3-6 minutes on low heat, stir constantly)

Recipe for Cheesecake

2 packages of cream cheese

1/2 cup sugar

3 eggs

1/4th cup of sour cream or greek yogurt

1 egg yolk

1 premade graham cracker crust in tin (or make your own)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit

using mixer in large bowl, beat cream cheese until creamy

slowly, add the sugar while mixing, scrape the sides.

One by one, add eggs while mixing

slowly, add sour cream of greek yogurt

add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pour 1/4th of mixture into graham cracker tin. pour 1/4th of the wild blue sauce over surface (as pictured). Do this four time until you have 4 layers of alternating wild blue sauce and cheesecake batter. use knife to "marble," make swaying motions with the knife until the wild blue sauce and cheesecake mixture create marbled pattern (As pictured in 5th picture). Add some semi sweet chocolate chips if desired (the W in the image stands for "Wait" to remind family not to eat it all). bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees, reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake for 40 minutes more. let cool, warm cheesecake is gross.
